My 9 year old has a cell phone and an ipod. He has always been a mature little boy so he takes really good care of his stuff. I actually have him help me program my phone and get advice on what the best phones are. My 4 year old can hop on the computer, load up nickjr.com and play games. It amazes me what kids know nowadays. Actually if ipods werent so expensive I would buy her one of her own, because she listens to mine all the time and hip hops around the house.
